BORDER FLYING PROJECT - 2006

image of julia bradshaw flying paper planes across the US Mexican borderDocumentation and installation photographs of border flying project - paper planes were printed with the words "border incident area - do not cross" in spanish and english from a piece of border police tape found at the border.

Coming from Europe where borders have disintegrated during the past 20 years, the border relationship between the US and Mexico dismays me.

This was my way of drawing attention to the arbitrary nature of borders and also on reflecting on my own immigration experience as part of the high-tech immigration wave of the mid-1990's.

This project was part of a number of artist interventions by San Jose State University students and faculty at Border State Park in California in conjunction with InSite 2005.
